This workshop teaches you the basics of Riso-printing with a focus on Layout of image and text. Drawing inspiration from designs by international publishers and artists in our Small Press Library, we will write, draw, collage and design individual printed newsletters and envelopes. The printing process will be analogue however you are welcome to prepare digital design or text elements for collage and analogue layout purposes. 

Before attending the workshop, reflect on a topic you would like to work with. This could just be a letter to your friends, a newsletter about a new obsession, a political pamphlet to mobilise people a.o. Please bring a text and images you would like to work with. Otherwise we will provide stamps, collage and drawing material, printed typography and textures.

This workshop enables you to book printing time through our Studio Pass to work on your own projects in the future.

What will I learn?
You will learn how the Riso machine functions working with the analogue scanning-bed. How to create a 2 color design.

Who is this for?
For people who want to get into publishing, who like to create something with their hands, are interested in analogue Layout, for those who have a message they want to send out!

What should I bring?
Crafting materials are provided. Stamps, drawing material, collage books, printed typography and textures. Please bring texts, image material or other things you would like to include in your design. 

What do I take home?
You take home 10 A4 newsletters in 2 colors and 10 envelopes in 1 color.
